UK Workers Are Turning to Health Insurance

Story by Wendy Anderson. November 2024 - 5 min read Advertorial

The number of UK workers taking up private health insurance is rising.

Struggling to access NHS treatments and securing GP appointments are key factors that seem to be driving the increase.

Survey data from insurance company The ExeterIcon citation has revealed just how many people are making the switch.

64% of workers reported using at least one form of private healthcare in 2023, up from 53% in the previous year.

Almost four in ten consumers specified higher NHS waiting times as a significant worry, with people only prepared to wait so long for treatment.

Over half of surveyed workers indicated that they would not tolerate a waiting list for more than three months, while 18% are unwilling to wait more than 30 days.

Men and younger people are the least likely to accept longer waiting times.
